About Robert P Martin
Robert Martin, MD, FAAFP, is board-certified in family medicine and sports medicine, with additional training in medical acupuncture. He believes in educating and partnering with patients so they can make informed choices and become healthier versions of themselves.
Dr. Martin earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He served as a physician in the U.S. Navy for 26 years and retired at the rank of captain. During that time, he spent 10 years training family practice residents in sports medicine at NAS Jacksonville. After retiring from the Navy, he continued his work in education as a sports medicine fellowship program director from 2019 to 2022.
Dr. Martin was an early adopter of using blood injection therapies and presented results nationally to the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine in 2005. He continues to speak at national CME conferences on a variety of sports medicine topics.
In addition to his clinical and teaching work, Dr. Martin has 10 years of experience in occupational medicine, urgent care and workers’ compensation.
Outside of work, he enjoys biking near the beach, golfing and tackling DIY projects.
